Travel news + a cry for help + an awesome trivia contest!

The bad news: I´m totally exhausted and confused from looking up hostel and ground transportation information for our trip to Italy next month
The good news: Holy crap, I´m going to Italy next month! And Sevilla next weekend! The beach seems to have been only the beginning.

If anyone out there knows anything about traveling in and around Europe, specifically Italia, please let me know. We´ll be there six days and are planning to see Venice, Cinque Tere, Florence and Rome before flying out for a day in Barcelona and then catching an overnight bus back to Granada.

Oh! bonus trivia question contest: there are signs all over Granada advertising a brand everyone in America is familiar with. The advertising slogan is "Ven a la Placer Azul." Kudos to anyone who can traslate that, but I´ll mail a couple of Spanish comic books to anyone who can guess what company the slogan is for and give me a good explanation why that´s their slogan. No cheating! You have a week.

Well ... after consulting with my spanish-speaking children, we agree with Susan's translation. Allison is guessing it's something about the sea.
Me, I'm thinking we're talking about Viagra and the little blue pill.

My guess is Aquafina. No reason, really, but the label is blue!

I'm guessing 'DoubleMint Gum.'
Double the Pleasure,
Double the Fun . . .
it's green, but that's my guess.

All are close, but none have stumbled upon the correct meaning of this puzzle!

Here´s a hint: it´s cold.

Don't you think the name of your page is a little bit presumptuous, if not arrogant? "Brilliance revealed"? Do you have a proven track record I can look at to see evidence of this brilliance? Do you even have anything published? Or are you really just a numbskull college student airhead who can't even spell half the time?

1). of course it´s presumptuous -- but I prefer to think of it more as wishful thinking.
2). why do I have to choose between brilliant published writer and airhead college kid who can´t spell? I think I´m both.

3).(BONUS) please stop hiding behind "anonymous" handles -- I may spell things wrong or make stupid comments, but I´m not so ashamed of what I write or what others might think to withold my name from my words.

From what I´ve heard, Pabst Blue Ribbon doesn´t exactly have much to do with pleasure.
Although it is blue, so that´s a start!

Here´s another clue, but this one is bilingual, so get out the Spanish/English dictionaries:
"Hel(*something goes here that´s not another L*) on a Stick"

This is fun! Keep guessing!

Yes, but there is no Blue Bunny in Spain.
In fact, I haven´t seen any bunnies at all!

I almost hit a bunny while riding my bike this summer!

Here's my guess (Hi, Aaron!): Sticking with the gum theme, I'm going to say Dentyne Ice...

And when I say theme, I mean that someone mentioned gum once...

At September 24, 2004 at 4:34 PM, Blogger Aaron said...

Sticking with the almost getting run over theme, I almost got run over by a motorcycle today! I was trying to escape from an out of control car that people were pushing towards the sidewalk and ran right into this guy´s path. But he yelled and I ran faster and no one was killed.

and no, it´s not gum.

As 1/2 of your genetic material is from me I will take responsibility for your spelling prowess and I'll be "presumptious" and give your mom the brilliance 1/2.

I have two guesses, after hurting my brain from all the thinking:
Haagen Daaz (maybe the blue reference is an idiom for cold?)
Corona (this guess makes no sense, but I had to put it anyway!)

"This post has been removed by a blog administrator"? May I ask why? Especially since I was only responding to your question to me?
